Steinar Raknes artist

Steinar Raknes (born 22 March 1975) is a Norwegianbass player, composer, and vocalist. He is considered to be one of the foremost Norwegian double bass players , and is known from collaborations with Chick Corea, Michael Brecker, Bobby McFerrin and Ola Kvernberg. Raknes was born in Midsund, outside Molde, Norway. He started to play bass at the age fifteen, graduated from the Music school in Kristiansund 1994, and from the "Sund Folkehøgskole" 1995. As a student on the Jazz program at Trondheim Musikkonservatorium (1995–98) he established the bands The Core, Kirsti Huke Quartet and Urban Connection. He has toured with the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra featuring Chick Corea as soloist, in Scandinavia, Japan and USA, resulting in th recording "Live In Molde". Raknes is to find on more than 40 albums, and is bandleader and composer for his bands Steinar Raknes Quartet, and the bands STILLHOUSE and ARVVAS (w/Sara Marielle Gaup) - featuring his vocal side. He is also playing bass in the Ola Kvernberg Trio.
